Add a Payment Method with Stripe
Adding a payment method on file is a great way to ensure that all invoices are guaranteed to be paid, reducing the fear of delinquent payments.
- Navigate to CRM > Contacts
- Click into the contact you want to add a payment method on file for.
- Click into the Payment Methods tab on the top right.
- If you've been given a credit card number to add on file from your customer, click the Add Payment Method button.
- From here you can manually enter your customer's credit card details. When finished, click Save.
- This card will be set as their default payment method for LMN invoices, whether you charge it in a payment run or directly from an invoice.
- If you need to add multiple cards on file, repeat steps 4 & 5 as many times as needed.
- To set the 2nd credit card as the Default Card, check off the box Set as default payment method of runs and services rendered and click Save.
- To set the 2nd credit card as the Default Card, check off the box Set as default payment method of runs and services rendered and click Save.
- From this tab, you can change the default payment method at any time by clicking the Set as Default button.
If you need to remove a payment method on file permanently, you can do so directly from the Payment Method tab in the CRM.

- Navigate to CRM > Contacts
- Click into the contact you want to add a payment method on file for.
- Click into the Payment Methods tab on the top right.
- If you've been given a credit card number to add on file from your customer, click the Request Payment Method button
- You can customize the email text or use LMN's default message, then click Send.
This is what your customer will see when you send them a payment method request: -
Your customer will:
- Click the Add Payment Method button
- They will be prompted to add either a credit card or ACH bank information on file for you to use on their behalf.
- Your customer will be able to add their ACH details directly through the financial connections presented. If your customer cannot locate their bank through the search bar, they can choose to Enter bank details manually. This manual entry option will trigger a micro-deposit workflow.
⚠️ A micro-deposit is a small test deposit (typically $0.01) sent to your customer’s bank account when they choose to pay by ACH and enter their account details manually. - After clicking Enter Bank Details Manually, your customers will enter in their Routing Number and Account Number, then click Submit. They will receive an email within 1-2 business days with instructions.
- Once they receive their instructions, there will click into a secure link to enter the 6 character code from that micro deposit from their bank statement.
- Once the deposit has been verified with Stripe, the customer can close the window
- Once this account has been verified, the ACH payment method will reflect back in their CRM under the payment method tab for you to use on their behalf
⚠️ It is important to note that the only way to add an ACH on file in the CRM is through the request email method.
Request Payment Methods in Bulk with Stripe
- To request payment methods on file in bulk, navigate to your main CRM contact page (CRM > Contacts)
- Check the box next each (or all) of the customers want to email a request to.
- Click the Update Contacts button and from the dropdown, select Request Payment Method.
💡You can customize the email message before going out or use LMN's default language. - When ready, click Send
