Process a One-Time Payment with Stripe
With LMN Pay Powered by Stripe, you are able to run one time payments directly on your customers invoices on their behalf. You can do this by using a saved payment method on file, or run a one time credit card payment on the go without saving it to the CRM. We will review the two options below:
Option 1: Process a one time-payment with a saved payment method from the CRM
Before processing a one-time payment, add payment method(s) to your customers.
- To process one-time payments against your invoices in LMN with Stripe, navigate to CRM > Contacts
- Click the contact you would like to process a payment for
- Click the Payment Methods tab at the top
- You will see the Payment Method you saved on file for your customer labeled as DEFAULT
š”If the customer had added their credit card or ACH bank details into the customer portal first, it would also appear here for you to use. - Next, from the side menu, click on Invoices > Invoice List
-
Either:
-
Option 1: From the invoice list, locate the invoice of the customer you'd like to run a payment against and click on the 3 dots on the far right, from the dropdown, select Add Payment
-
Option 2: If you would prefer to review details of the invoice first, you can click on the invoice itself.
- Click into the Invoice to process a payment
- Click on the Add Payment button at the top
- Click on the Payment Method dropdown menu
- Your customer's payment method saved in the CRM will be reflected at the top by default.
- If our customer had multiple payment methods on file, they would be reflected below the default and can be chosen as well.
- ā ļø Note that if you are running a credit card or ACH on behalf of your customer, the total down on the bottom right cannot be changed, and you will need to run the full amount.
- Once the preferred payment method is selected, click on Process Payment to collect the full amount.
- Once the payment has been processed successfully, it will be recorded on the invoice with the date and type of payment used with a balance of $0.
- Your customer will receive an email receipt letting them know their invoice has been paid
- Back on the invoice list, you can see that the stage of this invoice has been switched to paid and shows a balance of $0.
- If you need to issue a refund or export this payment over to QuickBooks for accounting, you can do so from the Payments List on the left.
-
Option 1: From the invoice list, locate the invoice of the customer you'd like to run a payment against and click on the 3 dots on the far right, from the dropdown, select Add Payment
Option 2: Make a one time card payment without a saved payment method
- From the invoice list, locate the invoice of the customer you'd like to run a payment against and click on the 3 dots on the far right, from the dropdown, select Add Payment
š”(Alternatively, you can click Add Payment from within the invoice itself) -
Click on Select Payment Method, and click Run a one-time card payment
-
Enter in your customers credit card details (including number, expiration date, CVV, Country and Zip), then click Process Payment
ā ļø This workflow will not save your customers credit card information on file for future use and is intended for a quick one time payment -
Your customer will receive an email receipt with the invoice and transaction details once the transaction has been completed.
-
In LMN, your customers invoice will be marked as paid and a balance of $0.
To view when your customers funds are expected to be deposited in your bank account, click into Payments, and then click the Payouts tab then click the See Details button.
